Friday Night Lights

Last night, we took Landon to his first football game! The Leigh High Longhorns played the Lincoln High Lions. Landon loved it! He stayed up late, sat still, and cheered along the with crowd. Out of his mouth last night I heard: 

"Go Boys!"

"He fell down...He need race cars bandaid" 

"Good throw" 

"Bad Catch" 

"Big Kick" 

"He missed it!"

"Touchdown"

He. Is. His. Father's. Son. 

We saw the 2nd quarter, all of halftime, and most of the third quarter before I called it quits (my feet were cold)! As we walked out, Landon said "Bye Bye Football Boys!" Once he realized we were really leaving, he sobbed (guess he wanted to stay through the fourth quarter to see how the game ended)! Sean and I had so much fun with him, we may take him back next Friday night!

Landon's Golden Birthday!

This year, Landon celebrated his golden birthday: he turned 2 on the 2nd of October! A special day indeed, since 2 is my favorite number! I was secretly so excited when we found out his due date was October 2nd, and equally disappointed given the likelihood that he would actually be born on his due date (less than 5% of babies are). When I went into labor on September 30, 2011 I thought for sure we'd have an October 1st baby...but no, our little love waited until 7:44am on Sunday October 2, 2011 to make his debut (here's the post about that incredible day).

We considered having a small, low key celebration for his second birthday after going big with a party in the park for his first birthday last year...but instead opted for an open invitation, backyard, toddler free-for-all at our place last Saturday! It was a ton of work, even with the extra helpful hands of Grandma Donna & Grandpa Rob, the Safeway bakery & balloon people, and a guy name "Famous Dave" who knows a thing or two about BBQ.

We are so thankful for everyone who joined us to celebrate our little man's big day! He loved having his little friends from school over to his house ("Mama, Cole at Landon's house!" "Look, Addi here, Dada!"), we enjoyed inviting some of our awesome neighbors over, and our friends (even those without kids of their own) are troopers for taking time on a Saturday to eat BBQ, sing happy birthday, and eat blue cupcakes!

Landon: you are our sunshine. You make Mama & Dada so happy. You are such a polite, smart, sharp, and sweet little boy. We are proud of you, and just love being your parents.

Landon's First Soccer Practice

Today was a really big day! Landon had his first soccer practice (let the record show that our little guy is 23+ months, and we had to get 'special' permission for him to join the 2-3.5 year old Kidz Love Soccer league)! Sean and I have been looking forward to this day for weeks, no months...no, more like our entire lives! Lil LRG did not disappoint today: he ran, he dribbled, he shot, he scored...and he even learned "soccer stance" which is a clever way of getting toddlers to stop, concentrate and listen! Coach Audrey was super nice, and we look forward to seeing her (and all of his new little toddler friends) every Saturday for the next 8 weeks!

Soccer Stance

"I came to dance, dance, dance, dance!"

The Ring Bearer showed off his dance moves at Auntie Katie's wedding last Saturday. He loved the live band! One of my favorite moments from the reception was seeing Landon, hanging out with his buddies, eating ice cream out on the patio, then stopping what he was doing when he heard a song he liked, and marching off the patio, into the room, onto the dance floor to shake his booty! He was a man on a mission, and my goodness did he make us laugh!

The FIFTH Annual Family Photo at Bianchi

Don't ever doubt the power of this family, a digital SLR, and a 2 second delay remote shutter! Today, on our drive back from Lompoc (where we were for Nicole's baby shower), we stopped by Bianchi to take the 5th annual family photo! To see them all visit the album here. 

We cannot believe how much our little guy has grown since our visit there last year (he was only 11 months, not yet walking, just a few teeth, but still so much fun)! Start the countdown...this little love turns 2 in about 5 weeks! 

Our Little Bookworm

Little man likes to go to bed with a book these days. It's pretty adorable. 

Capitola

I used to joke that we moved from our old townhouse to our current house in San Jose to be "closer to the beach". Halfway kidding, but it's definitely true. We're less than half an hour from Santa Cruz and Capitola...and if we weren't so darn busy this Summer, I think we'd be out there nearly every weekend! While Jess & Payton were here visiting, we headed out to Capitola with "Uncle Ivy" and "Auntie Carlene". Great day, warm weather, and happy little ones!
