Our sweet baby boy took his first trip to the ER last night. Here's the run-down:
Sean and I were heading out for the evening, going to watch the Earthquakes play with Dan & Carlene (date night!). We'd been gone for a about 30mins when we got an update from our babysitter (Miss Carly from our Preschool) that Cohen tripped, hit his head on corner of the entry way bench, and that he had a pretty bad cut on this forehead, that may require stitches. We immediately turned our car around and headed home.
When we arrived, Cohen was resting peacefully on Miss Carly's lap, having calmed down. One look told us both that we should take him to the ER. Miss Carly stayed back with Landon so Sean and I could take Cohen to Good Samaritan Hospital (just a few minutes away).
Once at the ER, we were admitted to Triage within 10mins or so, and seen by the staff within 30mins or so after that. Coey was a champ, calm, and snuggling his blanket while he watched an episode of "Paw Patrol" on Sean's phone.
Some numbing gel, a little glue (a lot of crying), and a bandaid later, and Humpty Dumpty was put back together again.
In the 24hrs since, he has been his cheerful, daring, fun-loving self: dancing, jumping, hugging...and sleeping and eating well. The ER staff said the glue should stay on for 5-10 days, after that it will fall off naturally. We're supposed to keep it covered with a bandage to keep him from scratching it.
Whew, Cohen survived (and his Mama did too)!
This has not been a good ER year for you guys - so sorry! Poor dude. On the good side, he is adorable and looks so grown up!
