Landon's First Month in Photos

Hard to believe that Landon's first month has come to an end. He's changed so much in the past few weeks, I'm totally eager to see what the next month holds for us!

Here's a pic of the three of us (these are harder to come by then I thought...going to have to hand my camera over to someone else every now and then to make sure we get enough family shots of us all together)!

Ivy League Material

On Wednesday night, Landon had a very special visitor who flew in from New Jersey. Marcus Jenkins, Assistant Coach for the Princeton Men's Basketball Team, heard of Landon's birth, his above average height (length), and big hands and feet (according to the Nurses at Stanford) and just had to make a trip to meet our little man (while in California visiting other Princeton basketball recruits).

I didn't think colleges were allowed to make contact with potential recruits this early, but we welcomed him into our home, nonetheless. We made Marcus dinner (grilled chicken, potatoes, salad, garlic bread) and introduced him to little "Lando". They chatted for a bit, exchanged Facebook & Twitter contact information, and promised to keep in touch in the years to come.

Needless to say, Coach Jenkins left our house full, happy, and impressed with our little guy. Not sure what Landon's favorite sport will be (soccer, football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, track&field), but good to know we'll always have a great summer basketball camp to send him to if he wants to go (wherever "Uncle Marcus" is coaching at the time)!

Landon Smiles

We have one happy boy on our hands! This morning, after a quick tummy time session in Mom & Dad's bed (he's starting to hold his head up on his own when propped up on his Boppy Pillow), Landon gave me a series of real smiles. I didn't have time to run downstairs and grab my "real" camera...so these cell phone camera pics will have to do! Enjoy.

This Just In...Landon Loves Baths!

Landon had his second "real" bath tonight. He loves the warm water, and so long as we keep him covered in a warm, wet, wash cloth he is happy. In this quick clip you can even see him yawn at the end!

A Big Day for Baby Landon

Wednesday October 19th was a BIG day for our little guy. He got to meet his Aunt Haley and Cousin Merritt for the first time, had his first "real" bath, and had his first bottle feeding with Daddy!

Merritt meeting her first cousin, Landon!
Haley is finally an Aunt!
We are new at this...but he liked it! Practically slept through the entire bath!
Daddy feeding his son his first bottle!
Landon, smiling after a BIG, HAPPY Day!

Our Growing Boy

Landon had his 2 week check-up on Monday. Sean and I were sure that he had exceeded his birth weight (7lbs 11oz) by now, but were shocked to find out that our little man now weighs....

8lbs 13oz!

He's obviously feeding well, which makes me happy! He could be close to 10lbs by his one month check-up on Halloween!

The LRG Weekly

If you know me, you know how much I love to take photos. I never doubted that our children's lives will be well documented in pictures. To start things off right, we are going to take a picture of Landon every Sunday, as he turns one week older. At the end of the first year, we'll have 52 photos documenting his growth, then I'll put them all into a photo book!

Here are the first 2 installments of "The LRG Weekly":

Landon Meets His Grandma Loulee

On Wednesday my Mama arrived! She thought Sean was picking her up from the airport, but we surprised her  by all making the quick trip to the San Jose Airport to greet her! Here is a quick video clip of the surprise -- she was pretty excited (and so was that other lady who happened to be standing right there)!

Landon already loves his Grandma Loulee that is for sure...she sings to him and snuggles him...and can't stop talking about how cute he is!

Boys Weekend

Our first weekend at home with Landon was great. We had Sean's 2 brothers Garett & Bryant come up with Landon's cousins, Dylan (4 1/2) and Julian (2 1/2). Seeing the boys meet their nephew/cousin for the first time was pretty special. We had a great time: visiting, making homemade pizzas, watching cartoons, and enjoying homemade pancakes and waffles (thanks, Sean!). Here are a few photos...

And, a video of the cousins meeting for the first time...

Like Father, Like Son

In record time, Landon is already taking after his Daddy. Yup, our little bear cub snores! Listen closely in the short video clip below:

The Landon FAQ

It is hard to believe that it has only been 6 days since little Landon made his (on time) debut! There are a few stories and updates I wanted to share with all of you, so read on if you want to learn more about how our little man came into the world!

How long did labor take?
I started having regular contractions at 6pm on Friday September 30th. Landon was born on Sunday October 2nd at 7:44am. You do the math.

How long did you push?
We (and I say "we" because Sean was the best teammate ever) pushed from 5:15am to 7:44am (about 2.5 hrs). It felt like an eternity...but I know some women who pushed for 3-4hrs with their first babies, so I guess I'm just glad it wasn't a minute longer!

Did you really tell Sean to "suck it up" in the delivery room?
No. No. No! I did groan or yell the phrase "suck it up" during my 2.5hr pushing session, however, it was directed solely at myself...not at Sean! I needed to dig deep, pulling from energy reserves and bravery that I didn't know I had, in order to get through it.

Is it true that the NICU nurses asked what the BabyG's name was before they told us the sex?
Yes! Sean and I both were DYING to find out if our little BabyG was a boy or girl. Because the NICU nurses didn't know that we didn't know, their first question to us as they whisked little Landon away to be cleaned up was "what's the name!?!?" to which Sean and I replied in unison, "what is it?" They laughed, told us it was a baby boy, and I we got to FINALLY, FINALLY say our little man's name out loud, "Landon Robert".

What's up with that splint on his arm?
The splint-looking device on his arm was an IV (shielded so he couldn't accidentally knock it out). During labor, I spiked a fever. The doctors were worried I may have an infection (chorioamnionitis), common in longer labors. They took every precaution necessary, which included putting me on IV antibiotics immediately. To ensure that Landon was infection free, they needed to start him on IV antibiotics right after birth. In addition, he was placed on a 48hr hold for observation and monitoring. That meant that he spent his entire hospital stay in the Intermediate Care Nursery. Sean and I were able to visit him as often as we wanted.

How did you choose his name?
Sean has loved the name Landon for as long as I've known him. The name has grown on me over the years, and when I found out he wanted the middle name to be Robert (after his Dad Rob, and his Grandpa Bob), we shook on it!

Is it true Landon was born on Grandpa Bob's Birthday?
Yup. Pretty cool, right?

So, what would you have named BabyG if it had been a girl?
That secret is safe with us. It is a name we both love, that also has family significance...so, we are keeping it under wraps for now.

Baby G's New Name!

On Sunday morning after a fun filled Saturday of labor, Landon Robert Greenwood was born at 7:44 am. His playing weight and height at his entrance was 7 lbs 11 ozs and 21 inches long. Stace did such an amazing job, and is continuing to knock this whole motherhood thing out of the park with Landon.

Here's a couple of pictures:

And a quick video...
